Hydro Tasmania is committed to creating a sustainable future by meeting current needs without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their requirements.
Sustainability for Hydro Tasmania involves the transparent and balanced application of economic, environmental and social considerations to business decisions and activities.
Hydro Tasmania believes that these considerations enable the business to address community and stakeholder expectations and ensure long-term business success.
We take a whole of business approach to sustainability with the Sustainability Code implemented broadly throughout the organisation's environmental, social and financial management systems.
We assess and publicly report our sustainability performance against principles of sustainability and benchmark against industry best practice. Our report is independently assessed using the AA1000 Assurance Standard (AA1000AS).

Hydro Tasmania has also taken a lead role in the development of the International Hydropower Association (IHA) Sustainability Guidelines, the IHA Sustainability Assessment Protocol and the website for IHA Sustainable Hydropower.
